With Brendan Rodgers expressing his
admiration for AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli in an interview, the
press was quick to link the Italian international with a move to Anfield
this summer. But the Liverpool manager has categorically denied any
interest in signing the former Manchester City forward.
Mario Balotelli’s future has come under a
lot of speculation this summer and the Italian international has been
linked with a move to Arsenal this summer, but AC Milan CEO Adriano
Galliani and Arsene Wenger have both rubbished these reports recently.
The 23-year-old joined AC Milan in 2013,
after spending nearly three years at Manchester City. The Italian
international has scored 30 goals in 54 appearances, in all
competitions, since his arrival.
Liverpool are in the market for a new
striker following the departure of Luis Suarez to Barcelona. The
Merseyside club were close to landing Loic Remy, but the deal failed to
materialize at the last moment and the latest reports suggested that the
Reds have turned their attention towards Balotelli.
The reports stemmed from an interview
where Brendan Rodgers expressed his admiration for the Milan striker and
labelled him as a top talent. But the Liverpool manager has insisted
that his quotes were taken out of proportions and categorically denied
the possibility of Balotelli arriving at Anfield this summer.
