Liverpool boss Rodgers hoping Coutinho signs new deal

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has said that he hopes that playmaker Philippe Coutinho will sign a new contract extension with the club.

Philippe Coutinho

The Brazilian was brought to the club from Inter in January 2013 and has gone on to make a massive impact at the Reds thanks to his passing ability, technique and improving work rate. Last season he was a key figure in their title challenge, making a total of 37 appearances in all competitions and scoring five goals.

Rodgers sees the 22-year-old as an important player in the club’s long-term future and is hoping that he can sign a new contract, with the player having been offered one in recent days.
